Michigan Rag Co. handprints all of our clothing in Grand Haven, Michigan using the traditional silkscreening technique.
Stencils were first used to decorate Egyptian tombs and in Rome were used to promote the camel by printing names on wooden boards. It was in the mid-nineteenth century that the Japanese style of screen printing was imported to the United States.
This method, using modern materials is basically how we print our clothing today.
Michigan Rag Co. prints on flannel, knit cotton, waffle weave, canvas and fleece. We are one of a few companies in the country that still handprints fabric by the yard.
